Overview

Union Bank online banking and mobile banking enhancements and new designs. There were many projects for Online Banking and Commercial Banking functional enhancements and net new ux designs. I will focus on mobile banking below.

Background

Union Bank did not have a mobile banking app and needed one to compete against BofA and Wells Fargo. An agency was brought in and I was appointed as a liaison for Union Bank. I worked with them, showed them our style guide, our use cases and wireframes. From there they went through a series of design rounds and we refined our corporate mobile branding. Later I would use those designs to extrapolate the corporate side of online banking into a mobile platform. This was separate commercial mobile app that I put together for Corporate users (known formally as Corporate Deposits and Global Treasury Management).

Goals

• Create a new mobile banking app Basic functions to start such as View Balance and Transfer money
• Allow user to find locations of Branches and ATM's
• Allow user to take photo of check to cash

Challenges

• No previous app existed for reference.
• We wanted to do user testing
• We needed to try and reach as many devices as possible (included Blackberry at the time)

Result

Personal Banking Mobile app v1 was created and deployed. Since then it has been updated to a 2.0 version. The Commercial v1 version was also developed and deployed. It has not been revised yet as this time of posting.
